Dr. Isabelle Monlouis, MBB maverick

As a GE Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Isabelle designed strategy based on customer segmentation and business life cycle; conducted internal awareness sessions and external executive overviews; and delivered customer sessions at GE’s Center for Organizational Excellence and Leadership Center in Crotonville. Over the course of the last 15 years Isabelle has shared her commitment to performance by design with over 3500 Green Belts, Black Belts, Master Black Belts and Deployment Leaders.
Isabelle is bilingual and a results-driven professional with 15 years of blended banking, risk management, and Six Sigma quality experience. She is a facilitative leader who brings together business and project execution experience, quality improvement methodology and financial acumen, coaching skills, and a global perspective.
When asked about delivering over $10 million dollars in tangible customer benefits within a calendar year working with novice Green Belts, Isabelle replies that the secret is in establishing a relationship of mutual respect and coaching her project leaders to be self-generating and self-correcting.
As a researcher, Dr. Monlouis’ work spans two domains of inquiry: organizational learning and business transformation. These research areas address basic questions regarding leadership, firm competitiveness, and strategic management of human and intellectual resources. In her own words: “My pre-doctoral training in finance and international economics and early career in risk management predisposed me to use quantitative methods to identify financial drivers of portfolio and firm performance. However, my research findings point to leadership or “human capital” as the key differentiator in driving organizational learning and realizing its potential for strategic renewal and competitive advantage. And that is very exciting!”
